Be The Captain Of Your Boat
Be the captain of your boat. TODAY, RIGHT NOW. BE the person that you want to become.
How?
Focus your precious energy on these 2 things:
1. Your daily actions.
2. Creating consistency in those actions in order to form long lasting habits.
What NOT to do:
- Focus only on the outcome.
- Get so fixated with the end goal that you become frustrated and impatient with yourself when you don't see results.
- Strive for perfection.
Think about it like this...
Every action you make is a vote for the type of person you want to become.
Ask yourself...
What do I want
I want to be ________
I want to feel ________
I want people to perceive me as ________
Now ask yourself this...
Are your ACTIONS aligned with the person you want to be?
Try to view your " goal self" as a person you know closely, like a friend.
Every time you find yourself in a situation where you have resistance towards doing the things that will take you closer to your goals, ask yourself
What would " Goal Me" do right now?
Here's an example:
Outcome / " End Goal": “I want to lose fat”
Current identity Action: “Eats chips because there’s nothing healthy in my fridge”
NEW Identity Action: Every Sunday I meal prep healthy, nourishing foods to fill my fridge up with foods that “ Goal Me ” would eat!
Here's another example:
Come home after a long day at work and...
Thought process: What would " Goal Me" do?
1. Watch Netflix and eat a tub of ice cream.
OR
2. Decompress by exercising or going for a nice afternoon walk to unwind instead?
You will know the correct answer to that one, depending on your goals.
“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.” ― Napoleon Hill
